Members came together to solve the mystery of the birthday cupcake icon that appears next to profile pictures on the team platform. Several members shared that the cupcake represents the birth month that a member chooses to add to their own profile, and it stays visible for the entire month. A recurring theme was that not everyone adds their real birth month or any birth month at all, which explains why wishing someone a happy birthday based on the cupcake icon can sometimes be off.

Okay then, a few answers indicating the birth month given by the profile owner could be incorrect or untruthful.
When my birth month was active, I had a cupcake for the entire month of December and was sent birthday wishes by a few of my teammates, which was nice. I am guessing not all profiles opt to include their birth month on here, if there is an option for that.

The cupcake signifies their birth MONTH that THEY put on their profile. I never tell anyone happy birthday, i tell them happy birth month. If THEY put the wrong date on purpose, then that is on them, not you.

I don't really use my true date of birth on social media. Except maybe facebook. Sometimes people fudge that question. When filling out non- official forms.
