Members debated whether using this HIV support group for dating or hookups is appropriate, with most agreeing that finding love or friendship with someone who shares the same status is understandable, but explicit hookup requests cross a line. Several members shared personal experiences, including finding long-term partners through HIV-specific platforms, and offered practical tips like using the block and report features for unwanted advances or scammers. A recurring theme was that the group's core purpose is support and safety, and that kindness, respect, and protecting that welcoming space matter most.

Personally, I think using MyHIVTeam is a GREAT resource for meeting new friends and dates. There are so few decent dating apps for those with HIV and stigma is still rampant. But I DON'T think this is the place for casual hookups, PNP, just getting laid, etc.

Of course not! You are entitled to your feelings and opinions just like everyone else, and that should be respected.

I think if people have a connection with members,, it's not a bad thing.

You're right it's hard to get back into the dating game again but there is hope. I meet my husband on a date site called Poz.com and the 21st of this month we will have our 15 year anniversary together and we have been married for almost 13 years. I don't see a problem with someone looking for a companion on MyHIV plus but to come out and ask someone to contact you for sex that's where I find it offensive to use this group to do so.

Sometimes its nice to know the status of someone else ahead of time,
Another big + would be avoiding the need to have the talk, if you've ever tried to date a non infected person, you know there comes a certain point in discussions about you as a couple! If you feel it could lead to a sexual relationship, I feel that revealing your status is easier earlier and the longer you wait, it just could be more difficult etcetera!
I personally don't reveal my status on something like an initial get to know you date but if there's a second date I try to work it into the conversation, for lack of a better term.
I really don't want to invest a lot time and effort into a relationship if the other is ill informed, etcetera I definitely wouldn't want to Fall in love with the person and then talk about it, sooner rather than later!!!
