I guess I'm old-fashioned. I love to entertain and cook and have drinks at my home. I guess that's the way I socialize. These apps where they expose everything about their lives to millions of people , just doesn't appeal to me personally.

A virtual social life is an oxymoron. I'm in agreement with Luis, love to go out, love to entertain. I'm dated someone who believes in not being on the fone (except work) while being together and that alone made me fall for him. Wow! So the person you are with is more important that the virtual one-what a concept! I'm not a tik tok fan for many reasons you listed. Waste of time. I work in film production and that app allows anyone to be an armchair producer and alas-they fail with no creativity or understanding of what pleases and attracts an audience and a reminder that a large swath of humanity is plain thoughtless and dumb. You asked for insight and here's one...2 weeks ago I was speaking to a gen Z and I asked how her weekend went and she said "I visited family " I asked oh cool, where? She said "In my room on the fone with them" Uhhh..dearie that is not visiting in the least , that is being a cyborg in your room alone. No wonder we have a loneliness epidemic but it was a huge eye-opener, we have 2 generations now and this is what they know. That fone and apps are socializing and dating to them. regardless how idiotic. I may have to change my perceptions to understand that and accept that. Also agree with others here that Idon't need to share my entire life. I don't need validation from likes or followers but rather my own esteem. I also don't need to see every move others take. Who's has time like that?
