My ID doctor prescribed me this med on the rare occasion when I have sex lol. He said take 2 pills right after sex to prevent other sexually transmitted diseases. He also said it’s good for Lyme disease. However I have no intention of having sex with a tick 🥹. Has anyone used this before? My doctor says it’s good for syphilis which he says is out of control in the United States

Teens have a hard time talking about sex. Or maybe parents have a hard time talking to their teens about sex. It could also be a combination of both. If your child wanted to start on PrEP, or found out their sexual partner might have HIV, or maybe they just got checked out and found they were positive, what are your thoughts on your child getting medical attention without your consent?

Talking about stuff that bothers me. Results being: my side hurts, bloody stool, feel weak and tired, head hurts. This happens every time theres stress. Why?

Reading up on side effects of Descovy and really considering asking my Dr. to go back to Truvada. Weight gain, higher cholesterol, and cardiovascular problems are all a side effect along with kidney damage . I think I'd prefer the kidney damage I was getting with Truvada...than the 30# I've gained since on Desovy and my cholesterol numbers are really elevated. My kidney numbers have improved. I’m noticing so many young women joining us here from around the world. While I welcome them, I’m sad that their infection wasn’t avoided. I see advertisements constantly encouraging HIV negative gay men to go on PrEP. I know gay men whose doctors encouraged PrEP. Perhaps I’m just missing it, but I don’t see the same push for sexually active women.

I've been taking Biktarvy for a little over 2 years. At my regular 6 month check in with my Dr., he noticed my kidney function #'s were low. Indicating my kidneys may not be functioning properly. I repeated my blood work a week later, and earlier this week everything was back to normal. Now he's really confused. I said "I'm an Enigma!" He thinks I may have been dehydrated, but how dehydrated do you have to be? I'm repeating my blood work in a month, and will have a f/u in 3 months instead… read more

Are there any medications that don't seem to put on weight? My understanding is they affect the hormone imbalance and make you hungry. Currently, I'm on Biktarvy which is great and has no other side effects.
