Why Is The Issue Of "DAMAGE To The Body", From All The Yrs Of Toxic HIV Medication Never Included When Talking About "Aging & HIV"?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

At 38+ yrs with this, I am experiencing digestive, organ, & an array of other problems that point directly to the toxicity of ALL the HIV meds I've had over the years & the health problems from just that makes diagnosis difficult for dr's & prolongs suffering & depletes quality of life. This fact is "ALWAYS" overlooked when talking about "aging & HIV", ALWAYS!!!
Thank you,

Early Treatment
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

As we all know guidelines are to start ARV medication as soon as possible which gives you a close to normal life span. With that being said there are many long term survivors who were on toxic meds. such as protease inhibitors in the late 90s that were really not good. And many of these people had hiv for 5 to 10 years before there was protease inhibitors and they were on AZT which we can all agree was a failure. From what I read on here and other places many of these people are still alive 30… read more

Is HIV Easy To Manage?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

There are growing concerns that the multi-morbidity associated with HIV disease may impact healthy aging and could overwhelm some health care systems, particularly those in resource-limited regions that have yet to fully develop a chronic care model. Given the problems inherent in treating and caring for a chronic disease that might persist for several decades, a global effort to identify a cure is now underway.

To some this may seem trivial but I think it has a greater impact on those of us who are aging... when our birthdays come , I'm sensing that more family members, friends and even lovers forget it's value ... how our birthdays impacts us who have HIV ...to me, my birthday means resilience , persistence , life and another year well spent ...and I congratulate myself for having achieved that outcome... my birthday is on the 24th and to this day , have not received nor think any of my family… read more
