Is The Monkeypox Vaccine Safe For People With HIV?

Is The Monkeypox Vaccine Safe For People With HIV?

It is my understanding that the Monkeypox vaccine is made with a live virus. When the early Shingles vaccine came out, my doctor told me not to take it because it was made with a live virus. Once the Shingles vaccine was updated and didn’t use a live virus, he then advised that I take it.

I received my first Monkeypox vaccine on july 13, with my 2nd on scheduled for September 11.
I got the JYNNEOS vaccine at my HIV doctors and it’s the one that’s safe for immune compromised people. I had no side effects except mild fatigue and pain at the injection site.
I recommend if come available to you to go ahead and get it.

Ask your doctor about the monkeypox vaccine. Although it is a live virus, it is a different vaccine with different effects.
