If your friends or family set you up on a blind date , would you accept the offer?
Or would you meet someone, whom you have not seen before but talked on the phone and online?

Members weighed in on the question of going on a blind date today, with many saying yes but with some important conditions attached. A recurring theme was the importance of safety, as several members stressed meeting in a public place like a coffee shop, letting trusted friends know where you are going, and getting to know someone through phone or online contact first. Many community members also shared personal experiences with blind dates that ranged from awful to surprisingly pleasant, reflecting a mix of cautious optimism and openness to taking a chance on meeting someone new.

I would go on a blind date, you never know someone until you really get to interact with a person. I think it would be kind of fun too. Like a mystery.

I've met people after meeting them online and been very pleasantly surprised that they have all been just who they represented themselves too be except my ex boyfriend. But I had seen pics of them all and talked extensively. Also I had someone with me.

I would meet someone but preferably in a public setting like at a coffee shop/restaurant but I have met up with others after only meeting through text and I went on a blind date years ago that turned out awful.

I am married but would definitely go on a blind date. I would make sure that trusted friends knew where I was and with whom the date was with. I would attend a casual venue (coffee shop, bookstore with desert/tea dining, etc. A public well-lit venue is the safest choice. You have to take a chance if you want to meet new people. No one is going to come knocking on your door saying, "I heard that you were looking to make new friends, meet new people, etc. for dating".
