Just had my testosterone and free testosterone levels checked and they were low. Keeping on schedule usually my levels are stable and in the normal range. I have a new HIV/GP doc and he said there is a pill available, an injection which lasts a lot longer, and of course the creams, gels and patches. Members discussing testosterone levels and replacement therapy shared a wide range of experiences, with most reporting positive outcomes from treatment including increased energy, improved mental function, and better overall well-being, though one member noted a complication with blood thickening requiring periodic therapeutic phlebotomy. Several members described their treatment methods, including weekly or biweekly self-administered injections and daily gel applications, with the gel being particularly praised for its effectiveness in restoring youthful energy levels. A recurring theme was that low testosterone can be a side effect of HIV and related medications, prompting many to get tested regularly, and members offered mutual support and encouragement to those still working to stabilize their levels.

@A myHIVteam Member I get tested twice a year and low testosterone is a side effect of HIV and many HIV drugs. I started on replacement therpy while I was still young 42! This is not medical advice just my thoughts!

I have been on testosterone replace for years, first shots, then patches that didn't work now on the gel everyday. When first started the gel I was like a teenager again! Way more energy and it helps my mental function as well as erections !~!
