Members discussed the complexity and emotional weight of HIV criminalization laws, with many expressing frustration that laws vary widely by state and can feel unfair or weaponized, especially when someone is undetectable and using protection. Several members shared practical strategies for protecting themselves legally, including disclosing status via text or documented proof, staying informed about their state's specific laws, and prioritizing relationships with other HIV-positive partners to avoid legal risk and stigma. A recurring theme was the tension between the science of U=U and outdated laws that don't reflect modern prevention, with strong emphasis on personal responsibility, honesty with partners, and advocating for legal reform while navigating a system that can still publicly shame and prosecute people living with HIV.

IDK, U=U takes a degree of trust, unless your in a intimate relationship. Most people don't have a labs in there homes. They don't see you take your meds and haven't seen your test results. So they are going on a verbal And that's if they are fully in formed I'm totally against the weaponization of HIV laws, especially if they are borne out of hurt or vengeance. But if they other person didn't know they were HIV positive, they didn't know they were undetectable. They also took the option away from them to take something afterwards to prevent HIV or get on PREP for on going encounters.

It's for those who are knowingly putting people in danger. Every so often you get that person who doesn't want to take the meds and have relations with people
