Members discussed emerging HIV prevention and treatment options, comparing availability between Europe and the United States, with several noting that European studies and approvals often come years ahead of U.S. FDA decisions. Many members shared excitement about once-monthly injectable HIV treatment (Cabenuva) becoming available, with one member describing their care team's plan to trial the pill form first before transitioning to the $4,000 monthly injection, while others expressed frustration that bimonthly injections already approved in Europe have not yet been studied or approved in the U.S. A recurring theme was the desire for more discreet, convenient treatment options like long-acting injectables, with members in Kenya sharing that monthly injections are becoming more common in their hospitals and clinics, offering privacy for those who don't want visitors to know about their medication.

I’m talking of the once a month ARV injection. It’s getting more commonplace here for those tolerable of it. It’s rolling out globally.

Honestly i would love it cause if you have visitors at home and you don't want them to know it's so tricky.

@A myHIVteam Member, it's your turn lol.
"Many here are on it."
What are they on? the once a month oral prep or the once a month injection prep?
Or are you talking about the monthly HIV medication or bimonthly medication?

that is why i like following european studies. treatment comes out so much sooner there. studies happen so much faster there. then the united states follows those studies then has to do studies of it's own. u=u was accepted 3 years before the united states accepted it. now europe has almost approved a bimonthly hiv injection and the united states has not even started a study on it. europe has approved an injectable prep yet the united states has not done a study on it and only just approved an oral form. the united states needs to quit following and start leading. i am watching an every other day hiv study in europe. i am taking my hiv meds every other day because of this study. but here, the fda requires hiv meds to be taken everyday and there is no study on it. so i am doing my own study. at first the doctor didn't like the idea but after 3 checkups now, i am still undetectable, my cd4s are increasing and i am not as tired. i am sick of the united states shitting on us. the united states needs to step up to the plate and be a leader, not a follower.
