Has Anyone But Particularly Women Experienced Severe Hair Loss Before Starting Their HIV Medication?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I lost all of the hair on my crown. It started gradually and just spread over time. It was very painful but sporadic. When it happened my head felt like it was eing stabbed with hot pins and then my hair thinned until it was gone. Since being on meds my hair has returned but not completely. Does this, or anything like it, sound familiar to anyone and what have you done about the hair loss?

My hair did fell out when I switch meds, but then I tried aloe and coconut oil, did the treatment three times a week and now I have too much hair, is very easy just blend about two inches of aloe ( just the inside) with two ounces of coconut oil any brand will do, leave it on your hair for 30 minutes then wash you hair normally. I hope thus help..

Thank you Noemi you're a star, I'm assuming you mean natural aloe and coconut oil and not bottled products? I'll give this a try and update you on my progress.

Yea, Mine thinned out. I had cornrows. It filled back in once I got on my meds. I ended up cutting it because it was uneven.

@A myHIVteam Member - I heard about an Australian doctor (plastic surgeon) that was having years of success treating women with hair loss using small daily doses of minoxidil orally. Rogaine (minoxidil) was a bust for hair regrowth, because it’s oily and needs to be applied topically. Minoxidil orally is now available as a generic at low cost.
