This Is For The Heterosexual People.
A myHIVteam Member asked a question πŸ’

This is a post from over a year ago.
Most of HIV deals with gay men. Straight people with HIV probably feel left out with support, help, or somebody to talk to. My question for straight people is, how do you address things when people talk about HIV and how it's a gay disease, and how gays deserve it for being deviants. Or how do you address when people say, "it will never happen to me, I live a moral lifestyle."

This is just my own opinion. HIV don't discriminate. I give ppl my story of a ten yr relationship with a cheater. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with anything. It's hard finding good positive people rrgardles. But I think with patience you can find the right man/woman. I also go into how a few of my friends got HIV through blood infusion or tattoos, there army, military, doctors and all walks of life. Some are children... I had no support however I took it upon myself to seek out all poz ppl to talk with no matter gender. Everything deserves to be loved.

Wow this is a very strong question. Well im straight and yes it was really hard for me to talk about with only the few people that know i have it.. at frist i wouldn't call it be its name (HIV or AIDS) i would say A virus or im a zombie.. . But once I found this app this was the first time that I actually spoke two others with HIV and im noting to lie it feels good to just be myself and able talk about HIV and AIDS and not feel ashamed...

And no it's not a gay disease whoever said that is dumb. I'm straight and it happened to me .i ever got tested cuz I was stubborn and I didn't use protection in the past. So this can happen to anybody and people now need to get tested and use protection. But now it is not get disease me and my wife have gay friends and they're the best ever

I hate that question of how did you contract it. Well there only a few way you can and no matter what I say people will assume iv drug use which I have never done. When I told them it had to be my ex they just glazed over and in their head was Probaly saying this girl is a liar. The only reason I say that because they kept asking about drugs. Thats one thing I pride myself not to do becaue I know that I never wanted to be a zombie or a slave to. People will never understand how hard it is to be honest about having this virus is. People are so judgemental and misinformed.

I was a lab tech who contracted HIV through a needle stick at work.
That being MY Truth...I do not judge others for getting HIV.
Betrayed trust was a theme over and over in patients I tested.
That being said...25 yrs after my diagnosis I KNOW I am alive because "the gays" fought and struggled and did things that are the reason I an alive today.
So much stuff in my life restricted me back then...but thank you and blessings upon all who decided to ACT UP!!! Back then, which meant life or death for all who followed!
