I did the TRAZADONE routine for 5 years but this past spring it stopped helping me to sleep totally. I now am on 0.5 mg of xanax, 10 mg. Melatonin and that is working well for me. Good luck in your search for the right medication.

For sleep I find it really good, at least at .5mg. It has a long half-life so I feel very depressed if I take a higher dosage. Not just tranquilized but actually depressed.

They’ve put me on it on and off for years. The main problem I have on them is the don’t necessarily make me go to sleep but keep me from waking up on and off during the night. The 100mg was way to much so I started taking half of them but it had a weird effect with the antidepressant I was taking and I was constantly in a fog that took half the day to get out of. The second time on them they gave me the 50mg and changed my antidepressant which I didn’t make me have a bad reaction and didn’t give me such a foggy hangover the next day. Since like earlier I said they weren’t helping me actually fall asleep with the 50mg they also gave me 5mg Olanzapine which really helped. In the end I stopped taking the trazadone and just took that and didn’t suffer the hangovers. They didn’t like me on the Olanzapine cause I had to take it every night so stopped giving it to me and told me I had to take the trazadon if I needed it that often. So I stopped both and just deal which I do for the most part. I do agree melatonin does work but again never made me go to sleep just stay asleep. I think the chewable gummies worked better for me than the regular pills did. Good luck hope any of that helps

@A myHIVteam Member I sure understand this and it has got to the point I carry bottles of all my meds with me. The last 3 times I went to the hospital none had access to what I take. I have a list of 87 medicines I can NOT ever take. it took 12 years to find HIV medicines I could take, they got to where when I tried a new ione, first I to stay the health department after the 10th emergency run, they only had me try them in the hospital itself!
Since 3/2012 on the same combo. Benedryl makes me like a super ball hit with a baseball bat! My ID team said to try trazodone 50mg, I got 3 hours sleep an improvement, and I only have 1 kidney from birth so I am extremely careful!
