Members opened up about the deeply isolating experience of dating while living with HIV, with many sharing they have been single for years or even decades since their diagnosis, struggling with loneliness, fear of rejection, and the vulnerability of disclosing their status. Several members offered practical suggestions including HIV-specific dating sites like Positive Singles and Healthline's list of resources, being upfront about status early in conversations, and using mainstream dating apps that now include status fields in profiles, with one member sharing that honesty led to a nine-year relationship with an HIV-negative partner and another celebrating eighteen years with their negative partner. A recurring theme was the tension between protecting oneself from judgment and rejection versus the deep human longing for companionship, love, and someone to share life with, with members encouraging each other to have faith that the right person will accept and love them fully despite their status.

First tip: Make yourself available without displaying a need to be dating. Unfortunately, for some, dating is a game of “who is most desirable” so being too “thirsty” can be a turn off. Second tip: Make more friends. One of the most common ways of meeting a match is through social engagements. Third tip: Discover what you need work on and do it. Until you are dating, it’s the perfect time to figure out things about you or your life that you want to change and do it. Relationships are much more successful when both parties are healthy and content with themselves and each other.

And most importantly: be the guy you want. No one is asking for perfection but having unrealistic expectations can set you up for failure. Also, you may find that the things you desire are not what you actually want or need in your partner. And have fun. Try a dating app, not a hookup app.

Honey that's one of the things I am going through right now trying to get back to the dating game but since am a very honest person about me and my status it's hard finding someone who is gonna love me and not look at like a virus but all I told myself was that the right person who wants to love and build a life with despite of my life issue will come buy and we both build a life together and spend the rest of our lives together so all I can say is that have faith and believe that you will find the one and it will be one of the special moments of your life

Don't worry about it it just too much because I tried to go back on a date I have a date no lying over 13 years dang they won't you want to know why you ain't been dating and when I tell them they don't have nothing to do with you because in the long run you have to tell the truth about our condition because if they find out it be harder so I told the truth they did say they would call you and never do that's what they be telling me so if you want to go by on a date that's up to you because I know how they did me when you get HIV does everything change I think so I'm not telling you that you can't go on a date because some of this is different for everybody that's why I'm on the HIV team so I can meet someone 9 day may go with each other because we do have the same thing I hope you understand what I say because I do miss spell and I'm so sorry I hope everything going good for you have a good day
