Im currently having problems with obtaining the drug Atripla since i have had issues with my insurance, does anyone know how long a persons body can deal with out the benefits of the drug , when a person runs out.

If you adhere to your meds everyday l, typically you could go a few days. But you have to be careful of drug resistance. And the virus will normally start to become detectable again within a few weeks.

If you live in the US, there should be a drug assistance program called ADAP that pays for your hiv meds and possibly some other meds. Good luck.

Social Security Medicare Part-D is what covers medications like Atripla but it will likely still leave u with about $6000 in annual deductibles plus the monthly insurance expense. As earlier suggested state ADAP (AIDS drug assistance program) will pick up those costs but it varies from state to state and sometimes there are waiting lists.
