From what I've been told - no unless you've had regular HIV testing through your life. When I was tested at 29 and pregnant I had never been tested before. It took me two years to learn who I got it from and then did the math backwards and learned I had it for 6 years before I was diagnosed.
I had to send messages to my exes via emails on Facebook and Myspace to learn who I got it from.

Is it possible to know when HIV infection began?

Determining exactly when HIV infection began can be complicated, but there are some ways doctors can estimate it:

- Lab tests: Certain blood tests can help estimate the stage of the infection.

- Symptom history: Remembering when the first symptoms appeared can provide clues about the onset.

- Previous negative tests: If there is a record of a previous negative test, this helps narrow down the infection period.

It is important to discuss this with your doctor, as knowing the stage of infection is key to planning antiretroviral therapy (ART) and protecting your immune system.

Early diagnosis is always beneficial, as it allows for timely treatment, reduces viral load, and improves quality of life.
