What is one thing you like or dislike about living with HIV and managing other health challenges?

Living with HIV can bring a mix of emotions — some days feel like the top of a rollercoaster, full of clarity and strength, and other days can feel like a steep drop into worry or depression. Many people find that experience very relatable.

One myHIVteam member described it this way: living with HIV is like a rollercoaster — some days you feel on top of the world, and other days the low points bring depression creeping in.

Things people often dislike:
- The emotional toll — anxiety, depression, and fear
- Stigma from others who don't fully understand HIV
- The impact on work, relationships, and daily life
- Feeling like loved ones don't truly "get it" even after explaining

Things people sometimes find meaningful:
- A deeper awareness of their own health
- Building stronger connections with others who truly understand
- A renewed sense of self-worth and resilience
- Becoming more educated and empowered about their health

One silver lining a myHIVteam member shared was that their diagnosis pushed them to drop assumptions and truly appreciate life day by day.

Everyone's experience is unique — what's yours?

I guess a possible "LIKE" would be that it forced me to make medical care a priority.

I don't look at it in the terms like/dislike. I look at it as having gained knowledge (for good or not so good). Finding out that I am Poz set me on a path to keep an eye on my health. Learning what my body is trying to tell me so that I pay attention to it.
There is one thing that i pretty much dislike is the fact that I had to have open heart surgery in March 2025. The left main artery was 50% blocked. But now I am a survivor not only of HIV but open heart surgery and those are my super powers.
