Members discussed whether marijuana can help manage HIV symptoms and ART side effects, with many sharing personal experiences of relief from pain, neuropathy, and sleep problems after using cannabis. Several members described switching from prescription medications to cannabis, finding it more effective for back pain, nerve discomfort, and inflammation, while others shared alternative approaches like exercise, Epsom salt baths, and massage tools for those avoiding substances. A recurring theme was finding what works best for each person, with members offering encouragement, practical tips on strains like Sativa, and gentle reminders to consult doctors about all available options.

Thanks Pete - Good suggestions.

I lay down and raise my legs/feet for a couple of hours every day. It does help to reduce the swelling. As for salt, I haven’t used it in years.

The neuropathy, was caused by the wasting I went through back in 2018 before being diagnosed and starting ART. Went from a 200 pound gym body down to 135 pounds in 7 months.

There isn’t a cure for me, I just keep trying new ways for dealing with it - Hence smoking before bed at night 😊

I will smoke or use edibles to help with sleep. Could be HIV or menopause but it helps with any pain or inflammation. I agree with @A myHIVteam Member Sativa is a very good strain.

I go to a dispensary, and they help me pick out the strongest one for me. However, I don't get the one That makes me lazy. You may want to try "Sativa." You will definitely sleep.
Bless you!

I will freely admit that while my problems for the most part are not Hiv / Aids related ( well to some extent that are but not actually attributed to such ....

Thr accident that I had which was the revelattion ro my Aids diagnosis is in part if not wholy ....

Now in the accident I busted out the driver's side window with my skull and because the car slid sideways off the shoulder off the road thru the ditch and up into the woods on the other side which caused me to bounce around like a pin ball thereby bending the seat back ( I mean bending the seat back so far I had to pull things out of the trunk to prop myself up far enuf to drive ....

I believe the seat incident was the causation of the lower back muscle problems I have endured since .

Now of course my id pcp gave me a script for muscle relaxers to be taken 3 times a day .....

WELL guess what after 3 years of taking pills they just were not doing very much to alleviate the pain I was enduring ....

A Facebook friend upon my mentioning the problem asked me if I thoughy 420 might help .....

Got some weed from a neighbor and have been having myself a one hitter bowl once a night for the past few months and guess what :) !

I have not had any unbearable pain with my spine or lower back since ...

So in this case I am happy to report that a natural herbal supplement works a dam site better than man made pills !
