@A myHIVteam Member if you got fired for having HIV, you can sue that job. there are free lawyers who help people that have HIV. If you lose your case, you pay nothing, if you win, then you pay them from your winnings. but you have to prove they fired you based on your HIV status.

Unfortunately, this is something many people with HIV face. Stigma and discrimination are a painful reality, and it's completely valid to feel hurt, angry, or alone when it happens. One member of myHIVteam shared that he was discriminated against by people he considered friends, and that this led him to be very selective about who he shares his status with. Another member mentioned that his information was revealed through gossip, which was deeply hurtful.

Some things that can help:

- Choose carefully who you tell about your status, at your own pace
- Seek support from people who truly understand you
- Remember that discrimination reflects the ignorance of others, not your worth as a person

You don't deserve to be treated that way. No one does. Medicine has advanced tremendously, and living well with HIV is entirely possible. The real problem remains the lack of information and fear in society.

I dealt with that in the beginning. I had someone call be "AIDS F*G" . I became immune to it. I take the whore comments as a compliment now.
