Biktarvy is really presenting a challenge to my kidneys. My eGFR is well below 60. Maybe this is a side effect of the first month; and it'll settle down. Or perhaps it is too much.

AI query suggests Dovato might be a better choice.

I've almost no concern about effectiveness of either. My VL has never been particularly high. My 4 week result had me undetectable with an rising CD4. So on the HIV front, good. I believe Dovato would be equally effective.

Members shared their personal experiences comparing Biktarvy and Dovato, especially around kidney health and eGFR levels, after one member noticed a sharp drop in their eGFR after starting Biktarvy. Several members described switching to Dovato due to kidney concerns, weight gain, or other side effects, with many reporting fewer issues on Dovato, while others shared that staying hydrated, eating clean, and exercising helped them remain stable on Biktarvy. A recurring theme was the importance of working closely with pharmacists and asking for a referral to a nephrologist, since HIV doctors do not always flag declining eGFR early enough.

Excellent @A myHIVteam Member. Scrip for Dovato at my pharmacy waiting for January 1 to be in our rear view mirror. But I'll wait two weeks once I have it to switch so I have a bit of a filling buffer. I've adequate Biktarvy inventory until then.
