Members opened up about what they would do differently in life, sharing a mix of heartfelt regrets, proud choices, and hard-won wisdom in response to the question about doing it all over again. Several members reflected on missed career opportunities, earlier investments, better relationship choices, and the value of trusting their instincts, while others shared how unexpected paths, including living with HIV, shaped them for the better. A recurring theme was that even painful experiences carried meaning, and many members expressed gratitude for the life they lived rather than dwelling on what could have been.

@A myHIVteam Member I stay in CA for that reason and the surf culture. Baja is not far either. I went out at Seal Beach memorial day and have Hawaii coming up. So, come travel, dude to SoCal and we will hit the waves. I also worked in Chicago for a year, one of my top 3 favorite cities (I've lived in Paris so that says a lot for Chicago) great people, culture, food, sports, architecture. I still have friends there years later and go to 2 annual parties every year.

Not have taken that load but I was in love. I'm too old for this question. I could've done many things different, at this age most have made peace with that life review. I wish I could've finished college earlier when my parents would've paid, but then in the early mid 80's when coming out after being gay-deprived for years, it was all about the bars and clubs then and that's what I wanted. I found a boyfriend and we had great experiences, going back to school later was harder but then I had more relevant choices to the current career paths and more time to see who I was. I think we have soul tribes and we decide the lessons we want and the job to accomplish before we come. All the people, pets, family and experiences add up to that or more. It takes some shitty people and bad decisions for those life lessons too. My shitty experiences got me work because only I had that experience and wisdom. You look at it that way and not with regret.

I definitely would have looked for just one guy that I would spend my life with instead of whoring around most of my life

@A myHIVteam Member It's hard to say for sure, since so many things turned out better than I'd planned - and that's because few things in my life ever went according to plan. However, I think I might have moved to a seaside community conducive for surfing. I took lessons only about 4 or 5 years ago on a visit to Hawaii and loved it - exceeding all expectations. Thing is, we don't have a lot of surfing in Colorado πŸ˜„ - but, we do have snow skiing, snow boarding and water-skiing ... and so, those things likely helped me to do so well with surfing πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ right out of the gate. One of the things for which I'm most grateful, was my 4 years living in Chicago - it was one of the best periods of my life - where I met some really great people. I don't live there anymore obviously BUT keep a very special place in my heart for the city and its people - really substantive in so many wonderful respects πŸ’―πŸŽ―πŸ™πŸŽ‰
