Members rallied around someone experiencing severe nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, with many sharing that these gastrointestinal challenges are common among people living with HIV and can often be managed with the right strategies. Several members found relief by taking their medications at night so they could sleep through any nausea, using Imodium and fiber supplements like Metamucil to manage diarrhea, staying hydrated, and working closely with their doctors to find the right balance of diet and medication timing. A recurring theme was resilience and hope, with longtime members sharing how they have learned to live with these symptoms for decades, encouraging the original poster to keep advocating for themselves, explore options like cannabis or CBD for appetite support, and trust that they will find their own middle ground.

Well my dear you have touched on the subject that 90% of people with HIV have and that is diarrhea and or gastrointestinal issues. I've had diarrhea for about 30 years now and was categorically put in the category of having AIDS because they diagnosed me with what we call wasting syndrome. That's where you cannot retain any of your nutrients and you expel them out. It's fine I have learned to live with this condition. Watch your diet eat correctly and make sure you eat with your medications and drink a lot of liquids. You will find your middle ground when it comes to your diet and your medications. Good luck.

I have diarrhea or almost, often. I struggle to eat if nauseous. I leaned to take my meds before bed otherwise I have extreme nausea. Doing this I typically don't have any issues, as I sleep through the medication breaking down in my tummy.

Good luck on your stomach study. Have you tried cannabis? Or cbd? I know it helps me at times when I can eat.
