Members rallied around someone expressing shame about recurrent STIs and a new HSV diagnosis, offering compassionate reassurance that many in the community have faced similar experiences and that being sexually active is not something to feel horrible about. Several members shared practical guidance about HSV management, including that outbreaks typically heal in 3-7 days after the first episode, that daily suppressive therapy with medications like Acyclovir can prevent future outbreaks, and that combining oral medication with topical ointment helps speed healing. A recurring theme was the importance of self-compassion, learning from the past without judgment, staying physically healthy to reduce recurrences, and understanding that STIs are manageable conditions rather than life-ending diagnoses.

First and foremost good morning and welcome to our family. Here we do not judge and you are safe to share your story. Being sexually active is not a bad thing. In fact a lot of us here would love to be physical again with someone because HIV does hinder that. But being that you are do not beat yourself up about it. Having said that though you must be safe because as you just found out there are other things other than HIV that you need to be careful about. Perhaps once you get all these conditions treated going forward when you have sex you can be a little bit more aware and careful, for the two of you. Welcome aboard. 🌈❤️👍

I believe there is an oral pill and also a topical ointment. Please call your doctor and make sure that he's giving you both for treatment. Do not engage in sex until it's cleared up...it's all good...be easy on yourself🌈🌈🌈👍🙏♥️

The vast majority of us here didn’t get this through immaculate infection. Everyone uses regrettable judgment at times. All we can do is to learn from our past and strive for a better future. I’m glad you’re getting the tests and treatments you need. It’s all manageable. Don’t beat yourself up.
