Members responded to the question of what advice they're grateful to share about HIV with an overwhelming message that HIV is no longer a death sentence, with many sharing they've lived healthy lives for 30, 35, or even 40 years by taking their medication consistently and working closely with their doctors. Several members emphasized the importance of self-love, fighting internalized stigma, maintaining a positive mindset, and knowing that people living with HIV can have children, pursue relationships, and live full lives when treatment keeps their viral load undetectable. A recurring theme was the need to access resources like local health departments, Ryan White programs, and ADAP for treatment support, while remembering that this diagnosis is just one part of who you are, not your entire identity.

34 years and aging as gracefully as possible. It helps to be honest with yourself and everyone around you. It makes life so much easier. As Spock would say "Live long and prosper.

It is, without a doubt, a life changer. And most of that is that society is slow to mature. Some people are going to reject us. But that's really nothing new either isn't it? Truly, their problem, we don't have to make their problem ours....

It's a virus, nothing more. Fairly easy to monitor and control with a wide assortment of treatment options. As a rule we don't go nuts when we get a cold, another virus; one less controllable than HIV.

So please, just relax; get your labs and work with your doctor to manage your overall health. This isn't the big bad thing it used to be.

My advice is to stay positive and focused on you. If you believe negative things you will have a negative life. If you believe positive things you will have a positive life. Most of the battle is in your mind and how you perceive things. HIV can not stop you from having the life you dream. Only thing that can stop you is you.
