Members reflected on how their healthcare perspective has shifted in response to current political and policy uncertainties, with many choosing to be proactive by scheduling elective surgeries, specialist appointments, and preventive care now before potential insurance or coverage changes take effect. Several members shared practical strategies for managing their care, including enrolling in patient assistance programs like Ryan White and AbbVie for medication costs, continuing to work past retirement age to maintain employer insurance, and transitioning to healthcare systems like the VA or community health centers that consolidate medical, dental, and prescription services under one roof. A recurring theme was the importance of staying positive and resilient despite uncertainty, taking charge of one's health through lifestyle changes like weight loss and cholesterol management, and maintaining strong relationships with trusted doctors who provide both excellent care and human connection.

You are very fortunate my friend to have all your checks and balances. Unfortunately through the years arthritis's crept into my world and done some damage but being proactive I already have four titanium plates throughout my body which enables me to be as athletic as I once was. I may need further surgeries which is a consideration at the moment. Peace out πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨

I thought this question was necessary given the current situation here in America. I've been given this a lot of thought and what I came up with is that all elective surgeries that I may require I will make it a point to have these done in the next 6 months before any changes to our health care plans and/or insurance and/or hospital requirements go into effect. I'm going to take an overall analysis of my physical health along with the consultation from my HIV doctor and make any necessary appointments with any necessary specialist now. This way God forbid I need anything in the future I would have addressed it now before it becomes a problem. I think being proactive now is the best plan.β€οΈπŸ‘πŸ™

I plan to continue working past the age of 65 in a less physically demanding supervisory role, following the modifications made due to my industrial accident this past June. Continuing to work will ensure that my group healthcare with BCBS covers all my medical, dental, vision, and prescription expenses, despite any attempts by the Trump administration to dismantle Obamacare, which many rely on. The only change I've made is enrolling in Medicare Part A, which will serve as my secondary payer should I be hospitalized for any reason.

Not really. I'm a little less concerned than I was six months ago. I think most states that are going to cut health care and the access to health care have already done it. They been cutting people since the pandemic and was getting stricter on most public services. Alot of the services we depend on are state funded. Programs like Medicaid and I think even ADAP. At the current time, there's alot states in the red right now. The government can't even afford to have a disaster. How close are we running out of funds for agencies that are already being taxed. I've always said, neither mean us any good. We're going to worry about running out of funds or we are going to worry about funds being cut.
