It's important to understand that while knowing how HIV is transmitted can help in preventing its spread, there is currently no cure for HIV. However, HIV is very treatable, and with proper treatment, most people with HIV can live a normal life span. Here are some key points about HIV transmission and prevention:

- Transmission: HIV is spread through contact with certain bodily fluids from a person who has HIV, such as blood, semen, vaginal or rectal fluids, and breast milk.
- Prevention:
- Condom use: Using condoms during sexual activity can reduce the risk of HIV.
- Preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP): Taking medication to prevent HIV infection for those at risk.
- Harm reduction programs: Providing clean needles and encouraging safe injection practices.
- Education and awareness: Promoting comprehensive sex education and fighting HIV-related stigma.
- Treating STIs: Being tested and treated for sexually transmitted infections can reduce the risk of HIV infection.
- HIV viral suppression: Using antiretroviral therapy (ART) to decrease the viral load to undetectable levels, which helps maintain health and prevent the spread of HIV.
