Is there anyone else here who has stopped taking meds? I used to and no longer do? I don't care for them anymore. Has anyone else done this as well

Members responded with urgent concern to someone considering stopping HIV medication, with many sharing devastating personal experiences of friends and loved ones who died within months of discontinuing treatment, emphasizing that the virus becomes uncontrollable and deadly without medication. Several members acknowledged the emotional weight of daily pills and offered practical alternatives like switching to injections or finding ways to make pill-taking easier, while also asking deeper questions about what was driving the decision and whether there was underlying depression or lack of support. The conversation revealed a painful tension between the life-saving power of treatment and one member's deep despair about existence itself, leading the community to compassionately urge professional help while validating the exhaustion and difficulty of living with chronic illness.

Yes, My late friend stopped taking his HIV meds and within several months he had died because the virus overtook his entire system. He stopped because he was tired of taking the meds every day. Bad and stupid choice. Don't do it.

Im very sorry to hear this Jonathan. Its very very important to resume treatment, as the HIV virus is a very very vicious and cruel virus can attack the Brain if treatment is stopped. The virus attacked my Brain before I started treatment and caused terrible problems and pain beyond belief. I have been on treatment for 28 years without interruptions, as I have experienced first hand what this virus is capable of doing to the human body.
Tell us why exactly you want to stop?
Is there a particular reason?

If pill(s) are an issue have you discussed moving to injections? I would HIGHLY recommend you re-evaluate this choice

I'm so sorry for the weight you have been given to cope with. I have been on and off meds so many times I can't count. I don't think we should ever give up, but I don't think we will see any better life than this awfulness. The powers that be they force us to live like we do. And yes it's from the Pretender's, but it's true. When I want to give up, I force myself to watch a documentary or two about the ones before us that didn't have the choice and it usually gets me back on the medication. Oh, no that's not advice to you I'm not suggesting that for you or anyone else. You need to do what you need to do for yourself. I've never written a comment on here, but I wanted to let you know that you're not alone and you're going to be in my thoughts for a while. And if you have to escape reality for a a bit, then enjoy it.

@A myHIVteam Member - peace in ? Accepting the status Quo??? When has anything changed in that stance?
I have no problem Being the Loan Voice Demanding Change in the current insanity …
What is currently happening is WRONG on both parts …
At the risk of sounds like a Nut case - there is NO money in advancing the Current status - i can with out question attribute all of my current conditions to ART and the LACK of PCP care / Listening to the Patient …

We fought for a chance at Life - and settled on Existing with and ever increasing amount of chemicals …
