Members discussed the question of getting a PA piercing after an HIV diagnosis, sharing both personal experiences and practical concerns about hygiene, healing, and complications. Several members raised caution about potential issues such as urination splashing when the piercing opening enlarges, exposure to bacteria during intimate contact, and damage to dental work, while others reassured that once fully healed the piercing is no longer open to infection and can be maintained with normal hygiene. A recurring theme was the importance of proper aftercare, understanding the risks, and making an informed personal choice, with members sharing helpful resources and lighthearted humor about the topic.

I don’t understand why you would take your favorite toy and put holes in it. Saliva from a special someone could expose you too all kinds of bacteria and viruses. Lessons don’t mess with your favorite thing.

I have been with men in the past that had a PA and or no longer. For those that had to remove them it became problematic during sex and especially when the piercing grew larger and the opening was so large that it became very awkward to urinate without splashing all over the place.. I heard that you must take extra care of it and be cautious during sex.
