Honestly.... Yea. I started anti-depressants in my late teens. 18-19. I was on both prozac and zoloft. IMO. They made me very suicidal. And the doctors kept increasing my dosage. I finally quit them around my 21st birthday. I had all the sexual side effects and it seemed to make me worse. It's kinda why I don't really take any other drugs except asprin, my HIV meds and weed.

When my partner Scott passed away in front of me 2.5 yrs ago, I had eventually become suicidal. I was diagnosed with Major Depression Disorder and prescribed Escitalopram (Lexapro), an SSRI. I now consider myself as having MDD for the rest of my life. Which means treatment and no cure. To that end, I now “listen” to what my mind signals to me. I have been off the med for a few months now. Stressors would cause me to go back on the med. You must wean yourself off these , not cold turkey, to avoid complications. Should be seamless, though. Side effects were several : weight gain and lowering sex drive, primary ones. As with any med, it’s a trade off, not an absolute.

Pepe I have had pretty good luck with paroxetine ( paxil). After going through a bunch of antidepressants paroxetine was the one that worked for me.
