Members shared deeply personal strategies for coping with the fear and stress of upcoming surgeries, diagnoses, and health crises, with the original poster facing spine surgery they found particularly frightening. Many community members emphasized the power of prayer and faith, trusting skilled doctors, accepting what cannot be controlled, and finding small daily victories like being able to eat or sleep rather than fighting against themselves. Recurring themes included preparing thoroughly by following medical instructions, staying connected to supportive friends and family, finding creative outlets like painting or music for stress relief, and drawing on inner strength that often surprises us when we face what we thought we couldn't handle.

@A myHIVteam Member. Very impressive! My sister sent me some adult coloring books back when I was stressed. It seemed intimidating at the time, but maybe it's time to revisit. Keep at it! There are some great documentaries on famous painters. Most were consumed by their need to paint. You might be ready for some college level painting classes(?). Enjoy! ❤️🤠👍

What I do is mostly a self defense mechanism that put all feelings and emotions aside and focus on attacking the illness. During the process I think of it as a problem I need to get out of my way.
