Members shared their experiences with injectable HIV medications as an alternative to daily pills, with several describing the shots as tolerable and comparable to a tetanus shot, causing soreness for a day or two afterward. Many community members described the injections as a game changer, administered in the buttocks every month or two, eliminating daily pill fatigue and gastrointestinal side effects while maintaining effective treatment. A recurring theme was the emotional relief of not being reminded of their condition daily, with members encouraging each other to talk to their doctors about switching to injectable options and noting that most insurance, including Medicaid, typically covers these alternatives.

I understand the stuff around taking pills everyday. I have the same feeling. I’ve an appointment coming up with my Primary & I plan to talk to her about “shots” being an option for me.

I'm on the shots. Depending on your pain tolerance, they are not too bad. I hurt for a day afterwards, then I'm ok. It's like a tetanus shot pain to describe it.

If the medication is giving you issues in the butt, ask your Dr to start you on another medication. But, it may take some time for your body to get used to that. I’m now taking ODEFSEY. This medication hasn’t affected me yet. But, I’m having some sort of allergic reaction to something right now. For the passed 2$1/2 months I’ve broken out just on my torso area of my body. I’ve got non-itchy light reddish bumps on my chest and back. I’m trying to find out what it is and as to why I’m having these bumps and not going away.

I wish they used veins for those injections to relieve the butt
