Members shared their varied experiences with night sweats while living with HIV, with some reporting that sweats disappeared after starting medication and achieving undetectable status, while others continue to experience them regularly despite years of being undetectable. Several members mentioned that night sweats were an early warning sign before diagnosis, and a few noted that switching medications like Biktarvi brought the sweats back, though less severely than before treatment. A recurring theme was the unpredictability of the symptom, the importance of communicating with doctors if sweats persist or worsen, and finding solidarity in knowing others share this uncomfortable experience.

First off if you’re having night sweats that’s a sign of active infection so you might need to talk to your primary care doctor or your infectious disease doctor and let them know that this is going on. They might need to run some lab test on you.

Unfortunately, night sweats are among the many side effects of HIV infection. I'm not sure if even if you are undetectable and on meds that helps any. I have been positive for over 30 years, and I still get night sweats. Not every night. But I do get them. Hang in there. 🤗

Yes... This was one of my warning signs that something was seriously wrong. I would wake up in a puddle of sweat every morning, even if I wasn't sleeping under the blankets. Once I started a medication regime and got things under control, this stopped.

Once in awhile. And there's really no trigger or cause we can trace.

Yes, I did before I was diagnosed. After I got on meds and became undetectable they went away I was diagnosed in 2013. Now I get them every once in a while usually when I am getting a cold. Hope this helps.
