Still New HIV+. Deep Wound Ten Days Ago. Care?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

It infected by day 7 and went to urgent care, get treatment. But my question is do we need to approach wound care differently? If so, how?

Don’t worry about it. Nothing is different.

Nothing different. Just keep it clean and change the dressing as needed

As long as you take the antibiotics then it will be fine

As long as you are greater than 300 CD4 count, and less than 1000 viral load, your immune response should be adequate @A myHIVteam Member.

Wounds should be cleaned with mild soap & water. Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, anything that burns... they do more harm than good to exposed tissues. Change dry dressings every other day, or when visibly wet or soiled.
