I continue to fight out of principle. I was largely unaffected until my CD4 dropped suddenly and I was subsequently admitted to hospital and diagnosed with TB meningitis. I started on HART at the same time as ta cocktail of meds for the TB meningitis.

Following my return to work where I had been a successful head of payments, I quickly found that my brain had been compromised by the meningitis. The company I had worked for for over 15 years took the decision to try and make it hard for me to continue but I was too bloody minded to give up unless it was in my best interests.

Thank fully after proving some points after I raised a grievance against the business, I was offered ill health retirement at the age of 32. I had a final salary pension for which they doubled the number of years contributions which meant that I was able to live on what was a significantly reduced income.

I know that very few people successfully received ill health retirement so I feel glad that I was able to succeed in attaining this.
