Members rallied around someone worried that their viral load increased from under 20 to 40 after six months on Bictarvy, with the overwhelming consensus being that 40 is still an excellent number, likely just a temporary blip, and nothing to panic about, especially given their CD4 count jumped to a healthy 654. Several members shared that viral load can naturally fluctuate due to many factors including lab differences, minor illnesses, stress, or simply how the body adjusts to medication, with some noting they remained around 40 for years while staying healthy and that anything under 50 or even 1000 is considered non-infectious. A recurring theme was encouragement to keep taking medication consistently, monitor trends rather than single numbers, trust the process as it can take up to a year to achieve durable undetectability, and lean on the community and their doctor rather than letting anxiety over lab results overshadow the fact that treatment is clearly working.

@A myHIVteam Member & @A myHIVteam Member. Just for some perspective, I wandered around with a viral load of 1000 for over 2 decades without my doctor being concerned. Below 1000, you are not even infectious. What you don't want is up, up, and away... Good Luck with labs 🍀

From what I’m understanding on here and from people I talked to 20,40,50 really all three are considered undetectable below 20 is just the new standard cause the labs can detect that low with advances in lab blood processing tests

I wouldn't be concerned about it. Just keep an eye on it 40 is not bad. There are a lot of factor's. Maybe you're catching a cold the lab that they're using.
Your overall health, just listen to what your body's telling you the numbers are just numbers if it starts to rise rapidly. Then you're medications may not be working as best as they could.
But if you feel good, you're able to function. I don't worry about the numbers.
If you try to analyze it, you'll make yourself cuckoo. Go out there and live your life. Deal with things as they come otherwise don't worry about them. Everyone have a great day.

I wish you all the best in health keep us up to date on your numbers I’m curious how an elite controller handles this virus the percentage of elite controllers is like 0.05%
