I first came accross HIV back in the 1980's when every Week was another funeral for my work collegues.. Nearly every gay guy at work died Theyd all been to a nightclub called Subway in Central London. Doctors didnt really understand this complex virus at that time. I got sick in 1995 when the first 2 drugs became available.. Given that the Virus had invaded my Brain, it was even more difficult to find drugs that would penetrate the Brain to halt replication of the Virus in other body parts.
I think the drug companies worked as hard as they could to create drugs that would stop replication.. And I would like to thank the drug companies and my Doctor for getting me the necessary drugs I needed when they had only been tested on Rats. My currrent drugs were called TMC114 and MK1548 back then. Im still on these medicines today, they are now known as Prezista/Darunivir and Raltegravir. I have been undetectable since 2004 with no blips, and these drugs have halted the virus completely.
