What Does Hiv Treatment Looks Like For Students In The USA From Your Experience, Are There Bottlenecks For Foreigners?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Please I will like to know how easy it is to access treatment in the USA as an international student, I have plans of moving to the states next year for my PHD but I’m scared that treatment isn’t so accessible like it is in Poland in terms of accessibility and healthcare coverage.

I’m trying start pursue a career also in the states after my program, is hiv a limiting factor for most employment in investment and the financial sector?

Contact the US state department or US immigration and naturalization service. You will probably need to be vetted before coming to the United states

Having HIV is not a determining factor for employment decisions or admission to college unless the employer or college is biased and you claim a disability based on having HIV infection and perhaps seek accommodation for the disability.
The UK and US are leaders relative to HIV research and education.
Very easy to access HIV care and follow up in the US as long as you do your part to help yourself.
Good luck.

Anything you need is easy to access here in the USA, if you have money. That is not as it should be, but it is the truth.

Thanks for that information, there’s no co-pay here, it’s entirely covered in my insurance and all medicals and drugs.

Mentors not that I know of? Plus, it depends on where you are going to live? In some States HIV care is great and in some States the HIV care is not good at all! I don't know how insurance works for your HIV medication or if you have any co-pay in Poland, but HIV medication in the United States is very expensive and so are co-pays! So, do your research very well and ask your doctor for all the help you will need! I'm sure that you will be able to find HIV care as well as you get in Poland. Be blessed and good luck with your move to the United States!
