Members shared a wide range of sleep strategies in response to the question about achieving recommended sleep hours, with approaches spanning lifestyle habits, medications, and relaxation techniques. Several members described using prescription sleep aids like Temazepam, Trazodone, Klonopin, and Zopiclone, while others found success with over-the-counter options like melatonin (often in high doses), Delta-9 gummies, or medicinal cannabis, and many emphasized non-medication approaches including consistent sleep schedules, turning off electronic devices before bed, soothing sounds like water fountains or soft radio, stretching, meditation, prayer, and physical exhaustion from long workdays. A recurring theme was the deeply personal nature of sleep solutions, with members encouraging each other to experiment with different combinations, consult healthcare providers about underlying issues like sleep apnea, address sleep hygiene, and find what works best for their individual bodies and circumstances.

I had a sleep study done, at the behest of my provider. I thought I was getting good sleep. Turned out I wasn't, not by a long shot. A combination of sleep apnea and being older than 65 took their toll.
So, I now use a CPAP and they have given me a medication to help me sleep through the night.
I also use medical cannabis, heavy on the CBD and very light on the THC, which helps.
The bottom line in all this is don't be afraid to talk to your provider about it.

I used to have to have a fan going all the time. Now I have a water fountain in my room and that’s what I focus on. It helps me shut my my mind down.
