I got dysentery this last weekend and I was in the hospital for days - I lost so much blood I had to have three units transfused. I am scared of everything I eat now, and I am terrified this is going to happen again. Has anyone else had an experience like this, and if so, how did you get over being afraid of everything you eat?

Make sure in future, everything you eat is thouroughly cooked.. no salads. no fruit unless you peel the Apples. All Bread you buy should be wrapped. No red meat.. Chicken ok if well cooked. No Shellfish.
Prepare all food yourself . Only bottled Water.
Bear in mind its also possible to cath Dysentery through sexual contact. I got it 30 years ago from a guy in a Sauna in Amsterdam. Hope this advice helps.

No, same meds, but I had sushi a few days before and we think that might be the culprit, not sure though

I just need to tell you not to have any Ice in your drinks, as this can be a source of Parasites.
Hopefully it wont happen again.

Thanks for the information I really appreciate it, I'm asexual so I don't have to worry about the sexual contact factor, but it's very good to know that's possible. I think I'm going to need to talk to someone about this because I feel like I'm taking it to phobic levels.
