Has Anyone Had Issues With Illness And Employment? If So What Actions Did You Take
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Even though my numbers are great for a few years now I get colds and flus etc..easily. Doctor says its to be expected but I miss a lot of work and have been let go before. I just got on ADA and intermittent disability but I work in entertainment and need to be consistent and figure out how to work sick? 😔

If you don't mind me asking what other ailments are you suffering from. Perhaps a heart-to-heart with your primary care physician and coming up with a medical plan can help you back to work. For example inquire about your testosterone levels, talk to an endocrinologist about your thyroid levels, and get an extensive background blood work perhaps even a genotype test and maybe switching your meds so that your immune system responds stronger. All of this is up for a good conversation with your doctor.

Hi, if you don't want to take full disability check and see if you can get partial unemployment. It would still allow you to be able to work part time and collect partial unemployment to compensate the hours you're not able to work.

Here are some tips for you:
By HIV laws, if you go to the doctor because of HIV appointments or side effects from HIV that need medical care, you can request in writing, by law, to make up any day you missed work. I do it often. It HAS to be in writing though, EMAIL is the best way or certified mail! DO NOT write a note, because notes tend to get "LOST." You need proof that you sent in the request and email and certified mail shows proof.
You can also take FMLA, but you do not get paid for FMLA. I think FMLA is 26 weeks total of time off from work and they MUST save your job. Again, that is paperwork that you must fill out.
Depending on how your illness affects your job, your doctor can write you restrictions on what you can and can't do.

Luis....we've done ALL of that. All the obvious you can rule out. That's why I'm reaching out to get a feel for the next move or if there's any OTCs or habits that have helped others. I think there's no answer and I'm just stuck as is. My ailments are flus and colds, fatigue and bouts of brain fog.

Who mentioned CBD? I think thats the way to go. Ive done it before and it helped on many levels. So what?.. Im a little buzzed at work but its probably even better in my line lol. Plus I can show up. (Hopefully-better than now) I can get from my doctor too. Geez I even have it for my dog so maybe that will be a big help!
