Y'all need to read about the Hepatitis B Vaccine trials way back in the 70s and 90 percent of the all gay participants contracted AIDs and are dead now. Our government advertised to gay men only in the 3 gayest cities in America for the trials of Hep B vaccine. Supposedly they didn't know that an AIDs virus was made from animal parts that had an animal AIDs virus in it. I don't buy what they're selling. Smell like bullshit to the highest of heavens to me. Sort of like the Covid virus. LMAO
@A myHIVteam Member Compared with what? Private industry? Do you think private industry is more forthcoming when they make mistakes? Government at least acknowledges the need for regulation. But, nothing gets blasted more than regulation. It comes down to people, whether in government or private industry. Is there a climate of integrity, or one of secrecy and corruption(?)
Conspiracies abound. If that were the case, the pattern of infected men would have been very different than the original cases that could all be linked to one man who spread the virus without knowing to all the men he slept with coast to coast. The guy was a flight attendant.
My hep b antibodies are gone A&C are still there had a new for b didn't work
Had all 3 shot 1980 with the fire Dept you to get the anti body blood test one doctor did the regular blood work said I tested positive re did the anti body test negative
@A myHIVteam Member - I tried again, too, years later, with an AB combo vaccine, but still no luck with antibody titer. I don't know why. I could blame HIV, but it hasn't stopped me from reacting to other vaccines (flu, Covid). If anything, I tend to overreact, with sore arms and flu symptoms. I have gotten pretty sick from vaccination, but then it's gone within a day.
I was a Public Health Advisor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in SF at the time that Los Angeles, NYC, and SF were the test sites for the development of the Hepatitis B vaccine. The vaccine for Hep B was in development at the time. There were established dedicated Hep B clinics in SF that "collected" and paid $$$ ($50 to $80) to patients (volunteers) the serum and returned intravenously the red cells back to them. It's the sera that was developed to create a vaccine. It was discovered at the 3 study sites that 1 (one) percent of the Hep B patients contracted a virus that was labeled GRID (Gay Related Infectious Disease) for which there was no vaccine! Men (and women) doctors and nurses were hospitalized and dying with infections that were rare (cancers, thrush, thrombocytopenia, pneumocystis pneumonia, dementia, etc.). This later was to be known as AIDS! I participated in the Hep B study and the GRID study as a public health advisor. The latter was cruel and sad especially those who were hospitalized. The patients were wasting physically. Hospital doctors and nurses wore "zuit suits" and refused to draw the GRID patient's blood. I was trained to draw blood (phlebotomist) and drew the hospitalized patients blood myself where samples were returned to the lab for study. Not easy. I worked at the SF City Clinic in SF for 5-6 years before transferring on a similar assignment in Houston, TX; then, on to NYC where I coordinated blood samples for HIV/AIDS throughout the 5 boroughs. I contracted HIV in SF (negative in 1983 and positive in 1984). Working at the SF 4th St. STD clinic, I also drew bloods of those who came to the clinic with STI symptoms and sexual contacts to those with an STI (men, women, trans, etc.). CDC was not popular during this period; but, they did their best. I met Dr. Fauci in SF and others from CDC headquarters (Atlanta) and NIH. I still work very part-time with HHS providing technical assistance on projects important to the health and welfare of all USers.
