It's a judgement call IMO. Unless the point of the relationship is sex, Do you know enough about him to tell him all of your business? Can you trust him to keep that information private? Make sure you do your due diligence. Just don't do anything you can't undo. You can't unring a bell.

When he wants to see you and then you tell him what you got, for right now continue to talk to him on the phone

The sooner the better the longer you take it the more he gets harder
