Members rallied around someone facing dental care challenges related to HIV medications, with the Ryan White program not covering implants in their area. Several members shared resources and strategies, including researching local Ryan White-affiliated dental programs like Avenue360 in Houston, exploring dental schools that offer implants at reduced costs (around $2,000 versus the typical $4,000), and checking state-specific programs through organizations like Dental Lifeline Network and donated dental services. A recurring theme was the community's generosity in sharing multiple links and practical options, acknowledging that implants remain expensive even with insurance while encouraging persistence in exploring every available avenue for affordable care.

Wow... try to find dental programs that are affiliated with Ryan White.

I go through my dental with Avenue360 ...https://avenue360.org/about-2/ based out in Houston, TX and they have special programs for PLHIV and low income people. Check for similar healthcare providers & or organizations.

All the best 🤗😊!!!

Check with dental schools. For example University of Colorado'dental school does implants and other dental services at a reduced cost. Implants are still expensive at about $2k per implant (single crown, bridges might be less), but that's better than the going rate of $4k/implant. (These prices are for the entire year to year and a half long process, including the crown.)

Implants are tough even with good insurance. The most I've seen someone cover is 60 or 70 at best. I"m just looking around for the future.
