This topic was discussed during the course of the virus. Wondered if there ever was any scientific evidence to support it, and what HIV meds. I've been completely vaccinated and had my booster. But now seeing another Covid variant emerging out of South Africa and spreading fast to border countries, I figure we need all the protection we can get as immune compromised individuals.
I would be sure and ask your doctor. I currently take two pills a day. My doctor said I could miss up to a week with no worries. That said, I have never done that, but it's still good to know if I were to miss some doses I wouldn't develop drug resistance. I notice no side effects from my current regimen. I take Tivicay and Prezcobix once a day. Working very well for me.
Hi @A myHIVteam Member
When I contracted covid in 2020 with mild symptoms and mostly inconveniences having to quarantine and test and retest and become bored.
Anyway, to answer your question the treating physician commented that because of the many years of taking the HIV meds he speculated that the meds already fortified my immune system which in turn perhaps prevented me from having a bad case of covid. Keep in mind that I was not yet vaccinated when I caught it. Also, keep in mind that this is just speculation on the doctor's part.
If there happened to be some efficacy with the HIV meds against the covid I can almost guarantee you that Biggy Pharma would be all over it with visions of money dancing in their heads.
I also think the CDC is perhaps testing and researching if HIV meds are a viable option for covid treatment or prevention.
It is wait and see time. Aloha friend.
