Members shared a wide range of experiences working with HIV, with many reporting no obstacles at all while others described significant challenges balancing appointments, fatigue, and privacy concerns. Several members offered practical strategies, including requesting disability accommodations under the ADA for medical time off, filing for reasonable adjustments through workplace policies, and using accumulated sick leave or remote work options to manage appointments without losing pay or disclosing status. A recurring theme was the tension between maintaining privacy at work and the need for flexibility, with some members choosing to disclose their status to trusted supervisors for empathy and support, while others preferred to keep it completely private and schedule appointments outside work hours.

I own a guaranteed issue life insurance agency and have not had any issue with work.
The issue I have is getting people living with HIV-AIDS to understand the importance of having coverage to bring finsncial.peace of mind to family and love ones.

Thankfully I have no issues at work related to HIV but nobody knows there anyway. I make my appointments out of work so no one need ever know.

I've been with my company 18 years. I've accumulated 4 weeks vaca, 56 hours sick time and 2 personal days. My direct supervisor is aware of my status. So no issues with illness or time away for appointments. Our office has moved to a work from home environment (March 2020) with no plans to return to the office, so there isn't really any issues at all. I feel fortunate to work for a person that is so understanding. Did I mention she's my work-wife also?? 😁😁😁
