Why Has My Memory Gotten So Bad?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Here lately I'm having problems rembering to do daily things such as taking my meds, making and keeping appointments, duties at work given to me less than 30 mins beforehand, plans I make with friends and family, birthdays and even sometimes forget to feed my animals as well as myself. I have to set alarms and write reminders to myself and rely on others to remind me to do most things. Anyone else having this problem?

My memory has not rebounded yet, I really depending on routines. I know I have a lot of weird neurological issues going on so I'm pretty sure its part of it. I've been trying to apply for rent assistance for two weeks. I missed meds for 3 days this month because I forgot to change my insurance to adap. If I have to remember anything out of the ordinary, forget it. I have to keep my pills in a pill planner to make sure I don't OD.

No, I’ve had similar issues. Forgetting glasses, wallet, appointments etc. Making notes and lists are common for me. Gets very frustrating on bad days. I understand completely.

It may not be your memory as much as your ADHD and OCD. I had bipolar disorder which caused me to forget a lot of things and have trouble prioritizing things at one time. My answer was Lithium and lamatical and modafinil. It's a little like Ritlan but not addictive and helps you stay focused on what you're doing while blocking out divergent things going on around me. Have you talked to your doctor? Years ago when so many people developed AIDS some came down with toxoplasmosis which could affect memory, but if your T count is above 200 you are protected from this. I hope things work out for you and happy birthday.

I'm not alone in this then.

My memory is awful, I have lists all over and then have to remember to check them, even when there is a reminder on them!
