I want to know, are people really disclosing each and every time they have sex. I was talking to my ex last week and he gave me the impression at least people in his circle of friend do not disclose their HIV status when having encounters or relationships. The discussion started because I had mentioned that I was interested in sleeping with someone that I have a casual thing with but we haven't had the talk and I was thinking about not pursuing it any further. I’ve always disclosed from the start, for me it’s a moral thing, I couldn’t not do it (I know that’s a double negative!). It then gives them the option, or even to ask more questions about the virus. Even if it were a one-nighter (not that I do them now, but that’s age) I would still tell them. I know it’s different in the States, and in differing states, about laws regarding disclosure (we can be prosecuted in certain circumstances here too), but for me it’s the right thing to do.

I've always disclosed my status from day one. It's not always an easy thing to do, but if you get it out in the open, then a discussion may happen or the person could simply choose to walk away.

I always do. I lived with a boy that did not tell me he was positive until I saw him 1 day throw a bottle of pills on top the fridge. It was Retrovira. I don't think I got hiv grom him, though. I tested regularly for a dozen years before testing positive. Hiv drugs are much better, these days.
