Has anyone lost bone density and developed osteopenia from the drug regime? So far I have shrunk 3 inches in height I worry about liver damage and developing resistance to the current medications I take.
I guess we should be thankful that the drugs nowadays don't contribute to our deaths. Many friends of mine were put on AZT and other toxic drugs which accelerated the diseases terminal outcome. I guess I can stand being a short bear in lieu of dying.
Today 4/17/2020 I got my Dexa bone density scan updated results from two years ago when I was diagnosed with osteoporosis (-2.8 in my left femoral neck). 15 months ago I switched from TDF containing Atripla to Biktarvy which stops the bone depleting aspects of TDF. Also started taking 1500 mg of calcium citrate with vitamin-D daily as well as Prolia injections every 6 months.
Now I only have a -2.3 level which moves me from an osteoporosis diagnosis to a much better osteopenia diagnosis :). Hurrah!
I struggle with bone density as well. Already had spine issues, and now it is much worse. Since it isnt worsening quickly, my doc doesn’t seem to be concerned. It is quite painful and I am very concerned! Feel stuck.
So far my kidneys and liver function are fine. I take trimeric as a drug and lots of others that could effect my liver.
I got diagnosed with osteoporosis early (just barely over the mark) 18 months ago so my doctor immediately got me off of Atripla and onto Biktarvy. Also taking 1500 mg of calcium citrate daily plus prolia every six months.
