What Kind Of Treatment Does Everyone Do For Neuropathy In The Feet?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Ashland, KY

The pain in my feet is increasing each day. Over the past year it was manageable without taking Neurotin but tonight I started on it to try and get some relief.

Thanks for the reply, my neuropathy was caused by the Ampaterician B that I had to have for cryptococcal meningitis. I was on extremely hight IV doses for 17 days in the hospital. I took my gabapentin for the first time last night simply because I was hurting so bad. I do not like to take it because of all the new warnings about the effects it has on the synapses in the brain, esp because I have brain fog just from the crypto and brain biopsies that they performed when I was in the hospital. Hopefully someone will come up with something that is safer for everyone who suffers from this terrible hurt.

Im so sorry to read this- it is not qeasy to get into, the C men...it was very debilitating amd I too was in icu and coma for three and a half weeks- when I woke up (miraculously), the staff told me seven different life threatening ailments were ravaging my body, c men being a major contributing factor in my plight. I was lucky to have gotten off the fluconazole, of course with weening. It has done damage, but I am alive and still undetectable, and c men free. By the grace of God!

@A myHIVteam Member, from what I understand it is rarely seen or it never actually gets diagnosed due to the patients passing away before the diagnosis. I was on Ampaterician B, I.V. for almost 2 weeks just to get it killed out then remained on some other antibiotics along with the Fluconozole which my I.D. doctor told me that I would be on it the rest of my life. C. Men had actually invaded my bones, blood, and brain by the time I was diagnosed in ICU with a brain herniation. All I know is C Man is something I wouldn't wish on anyone, even though I do not remember much about everything while being treated but my life is never going to be the same as before.

Just a question- I have recently been aprised that C meningitis has smitten several with the virus... Is this a very common phase in the sequence of ailments associated with HIV? I had it, and was on fluconazole Torvalds very longtime. Has 7 or 8 lumbar puncture procedures to monitor the alleviation, and eventually erradication, of C men in...
