Is This All There Is?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Now that the pharmaceutical companies have found a way to keep us alive for 30+ years with a one a day pill, what’s the incentive for them to come up with another pill. Wouldn’t it makes sense for all scientists, pharmaceutical companies etc to now spend all their effort to find a cure. In 15 years from now biktarvy, dovato will lose there patents and these pills will me made by many different companies in generic form which will drop the price for these drugs dramatically?no longer will they be… read more

More Then 1 Pill A Day?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
New Brunswick, NJ

After looking at past posts I see that some people take more then one pill a day. I’m new to this but I thought with the first class drugs that are on the market biktarvy, dovato etc 1 pill a day will keep you undetectable. Is it because some people are not getting the new meds. Or they have a lot of drug resistance from past drug combinations . I know in the beginning people were taking like 5 to 10 pills a day . God bless you that must have been hard. I hate taking one pill a day. Can anyone… read more

How Long Can You Live

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
New Brunswick, NJ

I know they say todays modern drugs you can live a long life.but how long and is it a healthy long life or HIV plays games with other parts of your body . Can you live 30 years relatively healthy or is it unrealistic to think that. Inflammation comes to mind and HIV is notorious for inflammation. I read somewhere that a 22 year old who gets HIV will have lots of other health issues when they get to my age which is 58. And that is with them taking 35+ years of pills

@A myHIVteam Member I have experienced less scary not more as years pass. I am not in a rush as I expect to only die once. But no point in fearing the inevitable.

Prescriptions

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Edmore, MI

HIV therapies are a must to keep the virus in check. Keeping the time you take your pill(s) at the same time everyday will help keep you at an undetectable level. Besides taking your HIV regimen religiously every day, do you tend to lag behind on any other medications you take? I take my HIV pill at 8pm every night. But my neurapathy pill, inflammatory pills, lung medication I tend to lack on sometimes. I have alarms set to take my meds, but sometimes I just don't take them. BESIDES your HIV… read more
